-Hillary Clinton

-Maya Angelo (after a live performance)
"LZ is my favorite singer."
Tommy Castro (Blues Guitarist)
"Collaborating with Phoenix is some of the best work I have been a part of."
LZ (regarding this project)
"LZ is a true singer and has a voice like no one I ever heard. She is a real
Diva, ready for success".
-Reverend Cecil Williams (Glide Memorial Church in SF)
"With a voice as spiritual as a Sunday church meeting and compelling as the
best of Motown divas, LZ continues to show her remarkable talents as a
deeply soulful vocalist to a world gone weary with teen-pop and industrial
post-punk noise. LZ is a vocalist supreme and provides here a true return
to what singing can be about."

LZ and Phoenix met while both singers in the famous Glide Ensemble at San
Francisco's Glide Memorial United Methodist Church led by the Reverend
Cecil Williams. While sharing their love of singing and performing, they
found they shared a common interest in songwriting. Soon after they decided
to collaborate on a project that would become "One", and they would
collectively be known as LZ PHOENIX.
LZ, the female of the duo, was born to sing.
At a young age she saw gospel legend Mahalia Jackson perform and set her
sights on being a vocalist. LZ's first job in the business was singing
back-up for legendary dance artist, Sylvester. That job opened the doors
for countless opportunities to share the stage and record with well-known
and local recording artists.
In 1996 LZ had success in Europe with several hits in the dance market. One
single, "See The Light", was #3 in DJ Magazine in the UK. Back in the US
she continued singing at The Glide Ensemble while collaborating with
producers and other aspiring artists. Meeting Phoenix was perfect timing
for her to further develop her songwriting.
Phoenix first stepped into the spotlight at age five.
He started his first band at the age of ten. He learned to play the drums
and guitar and was doing shows for screaming crowds by high school. Later,
he began touring the college circuit and clubs until he was hired to be the
house drummer for the House of Blues in Cambridge, MA.
In 1994, Phoenix moved to San Francisco where he quickly joined the local
music scene. He started a band while gaining business knowledge and
computer skills in Corporate America. 6 Years later, while singing with
the Glide Ensemble, Phoenix felt fate embrace him when he and LZ met.
Because LZ and Phoenix are both musicians, vocalists and songwriters they
share a love of all kinds of music. Coming together to collaborate was easy
and the music seemed to magically come together song after song. LZ and
Phoenix co-wrote every song on the album and hand picked the best musicians
to play with them. The finished product is a fusion of Blues, Latin Pop,
R&B and Rock 'n' Roll. They both have long histories of music experience
behind them, yet they both feel this is the most exciting, promising work
they have done. With LZ's connections and Phoenix's business savvy, the
group is headed towards tremendous success with an album that will
lyrically and musically touch many people.
